‘Twisted Metal’ release date, cast, and trailer for Peacock’s live-action video game adaptation

It’s been a long time coming, but the live-action adaptation of Sony’s Twisted Metal, developed by Incognito Entertainment, 989 Studios, Eat Sleep Play, and SingleTrac, has finally gotten an official trailer. Originating on the PlayStation in 1995, Twisted Metal has released eight games overall, across the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable (PSP) consoles. The concept revolves around a demolition derby consisting of vehicles fitted with projectiles, ballistics, machine guns, and other such weaponry. Players choose a vehicle and an arena, and the last player alive wins.

Development for a Twisted Metal TV series began in 2019, then the streaming service Peacock ordered a full season by February 2022. Filming took place from May to August 2022, and just a few hours ago, Twisted Metal received an official trailer, which can be viewed below.

Based on the immensely popular franchise of the same name, Twisted Metal was developed by Michael Jonathan Smith and stars Anthony Mackie as one John Doe, a milkman with amnesia, who’s tasked with transversing a dangerous wasteland to deliver a cryptic package in order to stay alive. He is joined by Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), a car thief, and the pair must confront bloodthirsty marauders to stand a chance at a promising future.

In addition to Mackie and Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church stars as Agent Stone, the driver of the Crimson Fury. AEW’s Samoa Joe and Will Arnett will portray Sweet Tooth, the boss of The Carnival level and the final boss overall, as the body and voice, respectively.

Other recurring characters include Scream star Neve Campbell as Raven, Tahj Vaughans and Mike Mitchell as Mike and Stu, the second pair of drivers of Hammerhead, and Lou Beatty Jr. as Tommy, a grizzled and weathered cartographer.

It appears as if Twisted Metal‘s first season will have 10 episodes overall, all releasing on July 27, 2023, only on Peacock.
