The MCU’s best-reviewed but least-watched project ever becomes the subject of a history-making experiment

A curious choice for a guinea pig.

Marvel Studios recently announced it would be making history when it was confirmed every single episode of Echo would be made available at once on Disney Plus this coming November, with Ms. Marvel now the latest to be subjected to first-time experimentation by the comic book company.

The street-level adventure holds a curious place in the cinematic universe’s long and illustrious back catalogue, with a 98 percent critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes enshrining it as the franchise’s best-reviewed film or television project ever.

However, the viewing figures on streaming also saw the show secure an unwanted reputation as the least-watched episodic original hailing from Kevin Feige’s outfit, which is an oxymoronic existence if ever there was one. According to critics, the MCU has never made anything better, but as per viewers, nobody seems to care all that much.

That being said, Ms. Marvel is about to open itself up to a bigger crowd than ever before after it was revealed to be the first MCU series to be shown in its entirety on network television. ABC will air the first three episodes of Iman Vellani’s debut on August 5, with the final three landing one week later.

Whether it’s being designed to test the waters about potentially filling up timeslots destined to empty during ongoing strike action with high-profile Disney-owned content, or if it’s an attempt to try and introduce Kamala Khan to casual viewers before she plays one of the three title roles in The Marvels later on this year, remains up for debate.

Either way, Ms. Marvel is boldly going where no MCU show has gone before.
