‘Well that’s rude’: Selena Gomez discovers why she’s single in hilarious fashion

Rude indeed!

Celebs are just like us. Even a celebrity as big as Selena Gomez is not safe from a TikTok filter gone wrong, as the singer and Only Murders in the Building actress proved with her latest video on the app.

In a new clip, Gomez appeared bright-eyed and full of hope as a red square with the words “Why am I single?” hovered over her head. As Bonnie Tyler’s Footloose classic “Holding Out for a Hero” played in the background, the filter cycled through several options, some kinder than others. As the possible reasons flashed on the screen — “You don’t believe in online dating,” “You are focused on your career,” and “You’re relying on luck,” among others — Gomez said something to a person off screen, still retaining that hope. But, soon, she began to become anxious; what would the filter tell her?

As Gomez cautiously chewed on her nail, the all-knowing red square landed on the reason. Gomez stared blankly for a short moment, reading the words as they came to a stop. “You have bad taste,” bluntly wrote the red square. As the words registered, Gomez gasped in horror — true or mock? Only she can know — before she looked away from the screen, presumably at the same person off camera.

“Well thats rude tik tok,” Gomez captioned her video, echoing most of our sentiments from watching the short clip. The camera cut off right after she received her results but I can only imagine how satisfying the group chat conversation that surely followed this video was.

Her followers emphasized; “same sis, same,” read one comment while another read, “It’s okay bestie so do I.” One commenter encouraged Gomez to focus on the positive: “you made rare beauty you have great taste.”
