New Posters Released For Life Of Pi, Lawless And Wuthering Heights

First up is perhaps the most conventional poster out of all of three, the new French poster for John Hillcoat's prohibition-era thriller Lawless. It features Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain and Shia LaBeouf nicely photoshopped together with a little snippet of a gang of peeved looking gangsters in the bottom left. We also get the same shot of LaBeouf looking strangely at his shotgun that we saw solo on a poster last week. So nothing too new on this front and the film is still set for August 29th release.

Today sees the release of three posters for three very different films: Lawless, Life of Pi and Wuthering Heights.

First up is perhaps the most conventional poster out of all of three, the new French poster for John Hillcoat’s prohibition-era thriller Lawless.

Ang Lee‘s Life of Pi, which tells the story of a shipwrecked Indian boy who finds himself on a boat adrift in the Pacific Ocean in the company of various animals, including a tiger, also gets a new poster. This one manages to get across that basic premise in a single image of the titular Pi in the boat with a fairly tame looking tiger. It is based on the Booker Prize winning novel by Yann Martel and it will be another case of a respected director, in this case Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘s Ang Lee, directing a high-profile 3D movie, which is set for a November 21st release.

Lastly, and the most unconventional, is the Australian poster for Andrea Arnold’s adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic novel Wuthering Heights. It eschews the traditional iconic images of wild moors, beaten down cottages and most interestingly, the infamous anti-hero Heathcliff, which are all usually associated with Bronte’s work, to instead focus on a single image of Kaya Scodelario, who will play Catherine Earnshaw. This highlights the uncharacteristic approach that Fish Tank director Arnold is taking with the source material. It has already been released in some countries to positive reviews (it currently has a 79% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes) but doesn’t open in the U.S until October 5th.

Check out the posters below and let us know what you think.
