Nicki Minaj has returned to her home country Trinidad and Tobago for the new music video to her hit song Pound the Alarm. Dressed as a Carnival dancer, in a lavish, bright and elaborate costume, the rap star takes to the streets in the fun, exciting and visually engaging clip.

There isn’t much in the way of narrative here, but it doesn’t really seem like the video needs any. It’s oozing with energy and as always, Minaj turns it up to 11. Fire-breathers, people on stilts and fireworks all add to the spectacle and to top it all off, Minaj’s boyfriend Scaff Beezy makes an appearance too.

As for the song, it’s been released for a while now and I’m sure you’ve all heard it. The catchy, upbeat and often over the top track is very easy to listen and move to and stands as one of my favorite songs from pop star’s new album.
