Are Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs fans ready for another heaping helping of animated tomfoolery? /Film is reporting the first plot details have surfaced for Cody Cameron and Kris Pearns’ upcoming sequel Cloudy 2: Revenge Of The Leftovers, along with fresh casting updates.

Here’s an expanded synopsis regarding the new adventures that await inventor Flint Lockwood:

Live Corp has been charged with cleaning up the island after Flint’s contraption that turned water into food led to a mess of huge pancakes, pizza slices and, of course, meatballs garnishing the pulverized town in the original film. But in the sequel, the machine is still sputtering away somewhere — only now it’s pumping out living pickles, a walking, gibberish-talking strawberry named Barry, and creatures like the giant, french-fry-legged bacon cheesespider, which lords over the abandon town like a massive cholesterol-spiking tarantula.

Bill Hader will voice our main character Flint once again, accompanied by returning voice actors Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris, and Benjamin Bratt. Mr. T’s police officer character Earl Devereaux will be returning for the sequel too but this time around he’ll be voiced by Terry Crews instead.

Newcomers to the cast so far include Will Forte and Kristen Schaal, playing the world-famous inventor who runs Live Corp and his genius orangutan Barb respectively. Schaal’s character is described as “the super-Steve (Neil Patrick Harris’ monkey character)… an orangutan with a human brain inside her monkey brain — like a terducken,” which only sounds like loads more talking animal fun to play off of NPH’s existing character.

As for the evil creatures set to face off against Flint, producer Kirk Bodyfelt described every creature as a “combination of a food item and an animal that results in just a cringeworthy pun.”

From the looks of it, Cloudy 2: Revenge Of The Leftovers sounds packed full with just as much child-like creativity as Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s original. With the teasing of a bacon cheesespider and the addition of even more cartoony characters, I have a pretty strong feeling that Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers will win over audience members of all ages, as our directors disobey their mother’s rules and play with their food for our viewing enjoyment.

What do you guys think, will the film live up to its well received predecessor?
