Arrested Development Season Four Could Be Thirteen Episodes Long

David Cross sat down with Rolling Stone recently and hinted that Arrested Development’s highly anticipated fourth season may be longer than first announced.

The new season—exact release date unknown—marks the end of a six year hiatus for the show and was originally announced to be ten episodes.

According to Cross though, it may be longer than that.

“I think it’s going to be 13 episodes, not 10. There’s too much story. Some characters will have two-parters. Everybody sort of participates, sometimes in a bigger way and sometimes in a tiny little thread that goes through everybody else’s stories.”

All episodes of season four will be released simultaneously on Netflix in 2013, a decade after the series premiere in 2003. Filming for the fourth season—which will lead into a feature film—began earlier this month.

This should be more welcome news for fans of the Emmy Award-winning show, who now have a lot to look forward to next year.

Mitchell Hurwitz, Arrested Development’s creator, made the decision to end the series in 2006 after its third season for fear of letting down fans if the show’s quality dropped after what he felt was its conclusion.

Thankfully though, the show is returning and fans who have been searching for that Arrested Development fix over the years can now rest easy.

What do you think? Are you excited to see more of the Bluth family? Do you think the new season and follow-up film will add to the show’s legacy or fall short of the genius that Arrested Development has become known for?
