Looks like actor Christian Bale has found his next project. Bale is set to star in director Zhang Yimou’s upcoming film, Nanjing Heroes. The film, which shoots in January, will tell the story of the infamous 1937 incident called the Nanjing Massacre. During the massacre, Japanese soldiers invaded the city of Nanjing, killed hundreds of thousands of people and raping thousands of women. Working off a budget of $90 million, the film will have Bale playing an American priest. With a budget that big, the film is set to be one of the biggest productions in Chinese history. For those wondering about the language issue, apparently 60% of the film is in Mandarin Chinese and the rest is in English.
Not much else is known about the film right now but if Bale is going to star, I’ll be seeing it. Bale is a tremendous actor who should earn some Oscar gold this year for The Fighter.
Nanjing Heroes sounds like it’s going to be quite the epic and I’ll be keeping my eye on this one.
