Looks like the Marvel money train is going to keep on rolling this Labor Day weekend as the studio will be re-realeasing one of its most popular features. Comic Book Movie is reporting that The Avengers will hit theaters one more time with a scheduled run from August 31st to September 6th, perfectly placed to hype people up for the September 25th DVD/Blu-ray release.

The Avengers already stands as the number three highest grossing film of all time, amassing close to $1.5 billion worldwide, but another full week of exposure opens a whole new door of financial possibilities.

With that being said, James Cameron’s Titanic stands at $2.1 billion and his sci-fi epic Avatar holds the number one title at $2.7 billion, so it would take a mammoth showing from Marvel fans to bump Joss Whedon‘s beloved superhero collaboration anywhere near another record-breaking spot.

Marvel also released the above graphic on their Facebook page, giving fans a full view at Thanos’ after credit cameo. Hinted at being the villain to challenge the Avengers come Whedon’s follow-up sequel, I think Marvel hopes enough people didn’t stay for the after credit scene and become confused enough at the grinning Mad Titan’s inclusion to watch the film again for his appearance. But will moviegoers shell out the money for another ticket based on curiosity alone, knowing full well the film will soon be available to rent or buy?

Either way, if you’ve been living under a rock the last few months and somehow failed to see one of the best superhero films of all time, don’t miss the final big screen showing of The Avengers. I know you’ll be able to watch from the comfort of your own home soon enough, but there’s something to be said towards the beauty and atmosphere of watching a film in theaters. Get out there and support your local cinema!

Will you be checking out The Avengers one last time on the big screen? Let us know in the comments.
