Defending the world from an alien invasion isn’t an easy task. Sometimes, you need to call in help. Sometimes, you need to call in the big guns. Sometimes, you need to bring in Sid Meier himself to help save the planet.

In Firaxis’ latest developer commentary, Sid Meier himself makes a guest appearance on the battlefield showing you how to properly defend yourself against a few of the late game enemies in XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Now that I have your attention, this would probably be a good time to let you know that XCOM: Enemy Unknown has officially opened up for digital pre-orders on Steam. Firaxis has sweetened the deal with a Kickstarter-inspired move as the pre-order bonus will be based on how many people join you.

Initially all customers will get the Elite Soldier Pack which includes the classic XCOM soldier, some soldier deco packs and the ability to completely customize the color. When tier two unlocks, all players will be granted three XCOM themed items for Team Fortress 2 including the Vigilant pin, the Pyro as a Badlands alien and some crafty hair that makes the soldier look a lot like Guile from Street Fighter fame. The third tier will gift everyone a copy of Civilization V.

You can pre-order XCOM: Enemy Unknown for $49.99. I’ll see you on the battlefield.
