Adele Confirmed To Sing The Theme For Skyfall

If eight Grammy awards and a pregnancy wasn’t enough for British musician Adele, she has now been officially tapped to sing the opening theme for James Bond’s next outing in Skyfall. She will join the ranks of legendary artists Paul McCartney, Tina Turner and Madonna and lend her pipes to the iconic opening credits sequence in this fall’s hugely anticipated 007 adventure.

The 24-year-old Adele (full name Adele Adkins) has been the subject of everything from unverified rumours to simple wishes from fans for some time now, regarding whether she would lend her pipes to track. According to Showbiz411, this is all but confirmed with the song to be titled, aptly, “Skyfall.”

The James Bond franchise has been notorious in courting popular talent to add their voice (sometimes voices) to the infamous “naked-woman silhouette” opening credits and I can’t think of a better choice for right now than Adele. Not only has she achieved immense popularity across a number of music genres, but the girl can sing – damn can she sing!

Nothing goes down better (or gets you more jazzed for the next 100 minutes) than a soulful tune belted out after the trademark 007 pre-credits action sequence and Adele should be able to provide that staple with aplomb. Skyfall already seems to have so much going for it and in thinking I couldn’t get more excited, I was clearly (and utterly) wrong.

Skyfall, from director Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Judi Dench, arrives in theaters October 23 in the UK and November 9th in the US.
