Nintendo’s director of strategic partnership, Zach Fountain, revealed yesterday that the Nintendo TVii service will be supported by “all” major cable and dish carriers throughout the US and Canada when the Wii U launches on November 18th.

A list of carriers working with Nintendo on the service was not provided. However, Fountain stressed that “no major carriers” are being excluded from Nintendo TVii, and all that users will need to do is to input their cable/dish account information into the Wii U.

Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime also clarified the DVR component of Nintendo TVii to Engadget yesterday after the press conference. The Wii U will work with customer’s existing TiVO/DVR hardware, but the console itself does not have the capability to record and playback TV programming. According to Fils-Aime, Nintendo did not want consumers to “bear the expense” of having DVR functionality built into the Wii U.
