While speaking to Collider to promote his new film Anna Karenina, actor Jude Law offered a brief update on Sherlock Holmes 3. Though we know next to nothing about the film, Warner Bros. is indeed working on it and Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce is hard at work on the screenplay.

When asked when Sherlock Holmes 3 would start shooting, Law had this to say:

“No I don’t yet.  I mean there’s certainly talk of it and I know there’s a script being played around with, but Downey’s a busy boy and I’m a busy boy so we’ll see.  But we want to [do another one].  We’re a very happy team and we have a lot of fun and we also think there’s still a lot of legs in the duo.”

So, it’s not much, but for those waiting with bated breath to see another Sherlock Holmes film, this comes as reassuring news. Of course, we all knew that a third film would be made, especially given the financial success of the second one, but it’s good to here that Law thinks the duo still has “a lot of legs.”

Could this mean we’ll be seeing several more adventures featuring everyone’s favorite detective? It sure sounds like it. Although I didn’t love the first film, if Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is an indication of where the series is headed, I’m all for seeing more Sherlock Holmes films.

What about you? Is it time for the series to end? Or are you hoping to see more Sherlock Holmes films.
