Following in the footsteps of supernatural YA novels turned Blockbuster sensations, Beautiful Creatures is set to be the next big adaptation to join the craze. Warner Bros. has just released the first official full-length trailer for the film and it looks like it will fit in nicely with the vampires, werewolves, and wizards fans have already fallen in love with.

Beautiful Creatures is the first book in the Caster Chronicles series written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film will focus on 16 year-old Lena Duchannes, played by Alice Englert, who moves to a small South Carolina town with her family after a series of accidents in her previous schools. As all teen dramas go, she quickly attracts the interest of a local boy (Alden Ehrenreich). Together the two deal with her families mysterious back story while quickly trying to figure out what to do about her future, which appears to have a deadline of sorts.

The trailer isn’t entirely obvious about what her supernatural predicament is, but it definitely points in the direction of the witch. At least we can be sure that there’s magic involved, and some sort of battle between good and evil seems evident. Sounds like a good time to me.

Along for the ride are seasoned actors Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson, Emmy Rossum, and Viola Davis. All of whom are sure to give the story a little boost in character.

Supernaturally, Beautiful Creatures will begin haunting theaters on February 13, 2013.

Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’re convinced of the “powerful magic.”
