It seems that Barry Sonnenfeld is not done protecting the world from hidden monsters just yet as after directing the three Men in Black films, he’s now in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the Dwayne Johnsonstarring film Lore.

Deadline reports that Sonnenfeld beat out quite a few talented directors to land the film, which is an adaptation of the Ashley Wood’s IDW graphic novel of the same name. The story has been described as tonally similar to the aforementioned Men In Black franchise, which makes Sonnenfeld a good fit.

Here’s the official description:

In times past, the world was full of mythical creatures – creatures long since banished and held at bay by the secret society of Shepherds. But when the generational line of Shepherds is broken, a reluctant hero finds her life threatened from every quarter. And the creatures are coming back…

Earlier this year, the seven-figure spec script written by Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott caused quite a stir among the studios, with Warner Bros. ultimately coming out on top with the acquisition.

I was definitely no fan of this summer’s Men In Black III, so I can’t get too excited for this. Maybe I’ll check out the graphic novel to get a taste of what to expect but as of now, my anticipation for this one isn’t too high.

Have any of our readers read Lore? Do you think Sonnenfeld and “The Rock” can do the property justice?
