The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is nearly upon us and what will be the last poster ever to incite anger and tedium from cinemagoers has been released.

In the last few weeks a number of upcoming films without budgets the size of Godzilla’s thingy and fanbases as large as a very big cake have produced promotional artwork that is inspired or at least interesting. The Life of Pi international poster featured a beautiful mosaic and the posters for Killing Them Softly in faded reds had class.

This just-released poster is an attempt at making the Twilight characters appear to be in motion – due to backlash no doubt from every other poster in the franchise wherein all three leads look to be battling rigor mortis. Another new element tacked on is that of the Winter Olympics with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner dashing through the snow. Obviously after Stewart has competed in the horse trials judging from her fitted jodhpurs.

I’m going to hazard a guess that the running is somehow connected to the plot but as the films usually lack one of those — it is anybody’s guess as to what the jogging is about (perhaps someone dropped a Mars bar behind the photographer?)

The tagline for this final masterpiece of Photoshoppery declares the film to be “The epic finale that will live forever” – a cute play on the vampire immortality angle. For a film series which has set back feminism, cinema and acting by about a millennia, let’s pray it doesn’t.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens on November 16th.

Are you in agreement over this final spot of artwork? Or does it fan the flames of discontent? Please feel free to insert your comments below.
