Outcast Brings Together Nicolas Cage And Hayden Christensen

Every time a Nicolas Cage movie is released, despite the voice in my head telling me not to waste my time and/or money, I head to the theater convinced that this film will be better than the last. And, it looks like I'm not the only one who hasn't given up hope that Cage will once again become the actor we know he can be - or at least once was.

Every time a Nicolas Cage movie is released, despite the voice in my head telling me not to waste my time and/or money, I head to the theater convinced that this film will be better than the last. And, it looks like I’m not the only one who hasn’t given up hope that Cage will once again become the actor we know he can be – or at least once was.

In a cluster of odd choices, Cage will be united with Hayden Christensen, who is set to co-star in the film Outcast. Christensen seems to have taken a bit of a break from acting over the last year to do who knows what, so it’ll be nice to see him work his craft again.

At the helm of the project is stunt man Nick Powell who will be making his directorial debut with the film, which is written by James Dormer (Spooks). Powell has an extensive history behind the camera as both a stunt coordinator and second unit director.

It’s still a bit blurry as to who will be playing what roles but what we do know is that Outcast features a warrior looking for redemption and a princess in need of saving. The film will be set in the 10th century, so we can be assured that there will be some great sets and costumes involved in the production.

Judging purely by age and physical ability, I’d like to see Christensen as the warrior – which seems most likely. I’ve had enough of Cage wielding a sword after watching Season of the Witch (which I saw opening weekend at theaters) to last me a lifetime.

The film is set to be shopped around at the American Film Market being held next month and hopefully won’t get lost in the shuffle.
