Andy and Lana Wachowski, or the Wachowski Starship as they’re asking the press to call them, are always an interesting duo. Their new film, Cloud Atlas, touches down in theatres this month and as they finish up the press rounds for that, they will turn their heads to Jupiter Ascending.

The sci-fi epic that some are touting as the new Matrix, is currently in the pre-production stages but the siblings still managed to give us a small hint as to what to expect with the film.

In a recent interview with HitFix, the duo announced that they have “a big visual idea” for their upcoming film and that we should expect something “like the evolutionary jump from bullet-time.” No further details were given but they did say that it’ll cost some money, take some time, and “might not be possible.”

Set to star Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, Jupiter Ascending is still at least a couple years away, but if anyone can deliver on a “big visual” idea for a film, it’s the Wachowskis.

Cloud Atlas has me incredibly excited, as does anything that these siblings attach their name to. Calling Jupiter Ascending the next Matrix is a bold claim but if this “big visual idea” pans out like the siblings hope it will, then it’s very possible that this project could be the next, big revolutionary sci-fi film.
