According to Deadline, Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro will be going head to head for Warner Bros. in the boxing film Grude Match. Yes, you heard that right, Rocky Balboa and Jake LaMotta will be squaring off in the ring. It gets even better though. Joining them will be Kevin Hart, who will play the promoter that puts the match together.

Directing duties are going to Peter Segal while scripting duties fall in the lap of Entourage‘s Doug Ellin. Perhaps those two names don’t inspire much confidence but the prospect of seeing Stallone and De Niro go at it is certainly an exciting one.

Both actors are a bit past their prime but at least we know Stallone can still kick ass, as proven in his role in The Expendables series. De Niro, on the other hand, well, I’m not too sure I can picture him getting back in the ring. That may take some extreme movie make up and an intense workout regiment. Then again, the actor is no stranger to weight loss and getting in shape for his roles.

Either way, however this all works out, there will be some value in seeing the two Hollywood heavyweights face off and though I’m not expecting anything on the level of either Raging Bull or Rocky, at the very least, we’ll get to see both actors playing the type of role that made them famous in the first place.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Sylvester Stallone face off against Robert De Niro?
