‘Sorry to the women out there’: Diddy receives standing ovation from fellow prisoners as he ‘beats the government’

Looks like Diddy has a lot of support on the inside.

Sean “Diddy” Combs got off relatively lightly considering the appalling charges that were brought against him. While many on the outside are disgusted with what they deem a miscarriage of justice, the music mogul’s fellow prisoners gave him a hero’s welcome upon his return to jail.

The rapper was charged with two counts of transportation for prostitution. The convictions were the less severe of the five brought against him (at least in the eyes of the law). While the judge ultimately decided to deny the singer bail on account of his attorney failing to prove he wasn’t dangerous, it seems Diddy was welcomed back to his cell with thunderous applause.

Diddy received a standing ovation from inmates

That’s the story according to Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo at least. Speaking to PEOPLE, the attorney claimed the reason for the standing ovation was on account of the singer beating the government, “They all said, ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government.’“ Somebody ought to tell them Diddy is yet to be charged, he could still get 10 years for each of his two charges.

It had been speculated that the government had been hoping for a RICO conviction which would allow them to seize all of the rapper’s assets including his estimated $740 million fortune. The results of the trial blows a hole in the government plan.

If Agnifilo is to be believed then it sounds Diddy’s fellow prisoners support the outcome of the trial wholeheartedly. But then again, Agnifilo is his defense attorney, he would say something like that. He went on to describe his client’s emotional state, telling PEOPLE, “He’s doing okay,” before going on to add that Diddy “realizes he has flaws like everyone else that he never worked on.” But apparently the rapper now sees “that he has these flaws.”

Meanwhile, in the real world

Outside, in online spaces people aren’t exactly having the same responses as Diddy’s inmates. It seems many believe the music mogul got off a little too lightly. Many believe the man to be guilty and believe his acquittal on many of the charges was a miscarriage of justice.

Some sympathized with the many women victims who made allegations against Diddy who will not see true justice served.

Others suggested that he got off lightly due to his vast amounts of wealth.

Either way, Diddy’s not off the hook just yet. While it’s assumed he will serve a couple of years behind bars before returning to his empire, he could potentially receive a lengthier sentence.
