‘Driving destruction’: Elon Musk just tossed another grenade, questioning Trump’s ‘legitimacy’

Fight! Fight! Fight!

Elon Musk has been flying relatively low under the radar for the last month or so. This is likely on the strict orders of the Tesla board, who have spent most of 2025 terrified of what idiotic and divisive pronouncement their company figurehead would make next.

Since Trump’s second inauguration, Musk has rapidly become the most-hated man in America. The left and liberals despise him for cozying up to Donald Trump, his chaotic and pointless destructive rampage in DOGE, and, y’know, the whole Nazi salute thing. Meanwhile, MAGA now sees him as a traitor for insinuating that Trump is a pedophile.

Great job alienating everyone, Elon! You couldn’t have planned it better if you’d tried. Now, in an ominous sign that Musk may be about to return to the political headlines, he’s posted that “Any government driving destruction of its own people is not legitimate.”

Probably the brainworms posting

It’s unclear precisely what Musk means by this, though the comments are certain that this is aimed squarely at the Trump presidency. Even today, Musk’s X posts are generally met with sycophantic drivel from those who somehow still look up to him. Not so here. The top three replies call him out for legitimizing and bankrolling Trump.

One says: “Right then. So why did you bankroll the most destructive man into the White House?!”, another: “Dude, you are literally part of the government hell bent on destroying the USA” and “You do realize you are a part of doing just that.”

Even so, it’s worth wondering what Musk is actually referring to. Could it be that Trump’s military attacks on Democrat-controlled cities as “driving destruction of its own people”? Trump breaking his promise not to cut Medicaid/Medicare and consigning tens of thousands to an early grave? Musk is a businessman, so maybe he’s upset about the tariffs tossing a wrecking ball into global trade that’s actively harming his companies?

But, most likely, it’s something far dumber than all of the above that’s seeped into Musk’s ketamine-addled brain. Judging by the rest of his social media profile, the brainworms have been eating well lately, as he seems to have swallowed and regurgitated just about every racist conspiracy theory there is out there.

We can only hope that Musk spends his political energies trying to bring down Donald Trump. It’s by far the most self-destructive move he could make but, in the immortal words of Alien vs. Predator, “whoever wins, we lose”.
