A 21-year-old female college student is asking for help after spotting two unrecognized rides on her family’s Uber account, which she fears might involve her abusive ex-boyfriend.

In an August 2025 post, the student explained that she lives with her parents and rarely relies on rideshare services, as her family owns two cars and she usually gets rides from friends or relatives. However, she noticed two suspicious rides on the family account, both directed to her home.

The first ride, recorded on April 9, 2025, was from her college campus to her house at 2:10 p.m. While she usually uses the account sparingly, she noted that school was not in session at the time, and neither of her parents attends her college.

The second ride, dated August 23 at 1:16 p.m., originated from a Wells Fargo bank building—her bank, though not a location she usually visits—to her house.

Her parents say it wasn’t them

After checking with her parents, she confirmed that no one in the household had requested these rides, leaving the source of the trips unknown. Concerned and feeling unsafe, she said to the best of her knowledge, her ex-boyfriend, described as “crazy” and abusive, lived eight hours away, and that he did not have a car.

She admitted that a recent nightmare involving him arriving at her doorstep had added to her anxiety, although she hoped the Uber incidents were unrelated.

The post quickly attracted a variety of comments offering possible explanations. One user suggested that the rides may not be as mysterious as they seemed, noting, “Sometimes I go ages without using rideshare apps, and when I reopen them, [I am] met with a prompt to rate and tip my previous driver. Did anyone use Uber at all yesterday? Did anyone open the app? Maybe the history reflects when the rides were completely closed out, not the day of the ride.”

This suggests that the unusual timestamps may reflect delayed logging or app updates, rather than any malicious activity.

Another theory raised by commenters involved the student’s father. One user wrote, “Because there’s no evidence that someone unintended has access to one of the family accounts, I think the most likely conclusion is that daddy is taking trips or dispatching rides for someone.”

While speculative, this comment suggests the possibility that the rides were initiated by her father, potentially for personal reasons unknown to the student, such as an affair.
