‘People like weird things’: Florida woman run over after spicy rendezvous derails because of bizarre foot-smelling request

She was there to sell her shoes.

Authorities say a woman in Aventura, Florida, was struck by an SUV in the parking lot of a hotel after she declined to let a man she arranged to meet there sniff her feet. The victim sustained bruising and abrasions to her back, arms, and chest, requiring immediate medical attention, but has recovered from her injuries.

Authorities arrested Elmoncy Sercle, 28, on Thursday, August 29, on charges of aggravated battery following the incident. According to the Aventura Police Department, Sercle and the unidentified victim had connected on Seeking.com and continued their communication via WhatsApp. On August 25, when the incident happened, they agreed to meet at the Serena Hotel on Sunday afternoon, where the situation quickly escalated.

She later told Florida news outlet WPLG, “When I got there, he just wanted to sniff my feet and I didn’t feel comfortable with that,” the woman said. “I mean, you could have my sneakers all you want. I mean, I don’t care. I’m not wearing them. And you know, they’re just stinky old sneakers. But people like weird things.”

“I’ve never experienced anything like this before”

After declining Sercle’s request, the victim said she explained that she was a foot model and quoted him a standard rate of $1,000 for the sneakers.

The victim then went to the bathroom, and upon returning, she noticed Sercle had left the room. Suspecting he had taken something, she pursued him into the hotel’s parking garage.

Once in the garage, the woman confronted Sercle, who was behind the wheel of a red Mercedes SUV. Witnesses reported that he drove past her, executed a three-point turn, and deliberately struck her with the vehicle.

“By the grace of God, I’m still standing today,” the woman, who has asked not to be identified, later explained. She said, “I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I’ve met a lot of people who have foot fetishes, obviously, and nobody has ever done anything to this caliber.”

Sercle fled the scene but was later apprehended after attempting to reserve another room four days later, on August 29, at the same hotel. Florida investigators discovered that he had been linked to other incidents involving similar patterns of behavior. He is currently being held on a $3,000 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
