Since Warner Bros. won the rights to Superman, they can now move ahead with whatever plans they had for the character, and according to the LA Times, that means they can finally move forward with the Justice League movie. The script is already being worked on and the movie is now set for a 2015 release.

There’s no director or actors attached yet, but there was a rumor a couple of weeks ago that Armie Hammer might play Batman. We can also presume to see characters such as the Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lanter, and of course, Superman.

The idea here is to do the opposite of what Marvel did and give everyone their own movie after they team up, with the exception of Superman who we’ll see in Man of Steel next year. Personally, I think it’s a great idea that they’re doing something different rather than following in Marvel’s footsteps.

The exciting news here is not that the movie is finally moving forward, but that it is set to come out the same year as The Avengers 2. While The Avengers was able to beat The Dark Knight Rises at the box office this year, they might have a tougher time against DC’s own team of superheroes.

We might have a better idea of what DC’s plans are for its universe after seeing Man of Steel, but this is the great DC/Marvel battle that we have all longed for. The only thing that would make this better is if the Justice League movie came out on the same day as The Avengers 2. As Bane once said: “let the games begin!”
