‘I’ll never forgive god’: Naz Reid’s sister’s killing has whole family in mourning

A huge loss in an NBA player's life.

A woman has been shot and killed in New Jersey, and police have arrested her boyfriend in connection with the crime. The victim has been identified as Toraya Reid, the older sister of Minnesota Timberwolves player Naz Reid. This news is absolutely heartbreaking, and it’s a huge blow to the Reid family.

According to police, officers responded to an apartment complex in Jackson Township, New Jersey, on Saturday morning and found Toraya unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds. They reportedly found a 29-year-old man, Shaquille Green, running away from the scene. Green has since been arrested and charged with murder. The reports state that Reid and Green were in a relationship.

This is a devastating personal loss for a family in the public eye. Toraya was only 28, and her passing has left her family in mourning. Per TMZ, Toraya’s sister, Jakahya Smith, shared a powerful message on Facebook, expressing her grief and disbelief. “I just talked to you last night bro we was ki’ing bout this n**** not even knowing what was waiting on you the very next morning,” Smith wrote.

Jakahya Smith also allegedly posted, “I’ll never get over this I’ll never forgive god for taking you away from me, idk what kind of sick plan that man above has but I know losing you couldn’t have been apart of it.” It’s clear from her words that this loss is completely unfathomable. Smith also mentioned how difficult it was to even say the words “Toraya” and “death” in the same sentence, saying she hoped at first that it was all a sick joke.

This whole situation is an absolute tragedy. It’s a painful reminder that even those with public success face private heartache. Our thoughts are with Naz Reid and his family during this incredibly difficult time. The fact that this was allegedly committed by someone she knew and was close to makes it even more devastating.

We’ll likely learn more about this as time goes on, but the loss is probably a big hit to the family, but police are likely already on the case.
