Eyebrows raised as forgetful Donald Trump dismisses Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boyfriend as ‘fake news media’

Green's boyfriend is a major MAGA cheerleader so this has to sting.

Over the weekend, Donald Trump casually ordered the destruction of a peace vigil that’s been a fixture of LaFayette Park for decades. The vigil began in 1981, and for years has been manned by Philipos Melaku-Bello, promoting peace and cooperation with a sign saying “War is not the answer”.

Trump had apparently never noticed it over his near-decade in Washington. But, when it was brought to his attention, he told officials in an Oval Office meeting, “Take it down today, right now”. The man responsible for directing Trump’s ire: Real America’s Voice reporter Brian Glenn, aka Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boyfriend.

And what did Glenn get for his troubles? A day later, Trump described the incident, apparently instinctively slamming Glenn as fake and insinuating he’s a “communist”:

“One of the fake news media was asking me about the blue tent. What about the blue tent? Somehow these people were very well connected with the communist cause…

Trump went on to say his victory over two or three peace-loving elderly hippies, one in a wheelchair, “wasn’t easy” and a “tough one”.

Never meet your idols

We can only imagine what Glenn, one of Trump’s most avid supporters, feels about his idol casually dismissing him as “fake news”. Some theorize this may be a subtle dig at Greene for her comments about the Epstein situation and her support of its victims, but frankly it’s far more likely that Trump just mentally filed Glenn away as just another annoying reporter.

Trump did eventually remember that Glenn’s was “friendly”, but by that point, the catastrophic damage to the MAGA reporter’s ego was well and truly done. Then again, if he wants some consolation for ending up on Trump’s bad side, he can at least find some sympathy in the arms of Greene, currently going through a similar ideological breakup.

And as for the tent itself? Well, the blue tent that so annoyed Trump is indeed gone. But those crafty hippies have merely replaced it with a red umbrella and continued their vigil. This low-key peace protest has survived Reagan, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and Biden’s presidencies – we’re sure it’ll survive Trump’s too. So, in the final analysis, it’s Trump 0, Hippies 1 – with Brian Glenn being inadvertently sent to the sin bin.
