FBI has released an image of current suspect in Charlie Kirk shooting

We know who to look for now.

The FBI has officially released images of a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, at a recent event in Utah. The images, which were shared on social media by the FBI’s Salt Lake City office, show an individual wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses. They are asking for the public’s help to identify the person, and they’ve put a pretty big reward out there, offering up to $100,000 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the person responsible.

The manhunt for the person responsible is still ongoing. Officials are working “around the clock” to track down the individual, who they believe is college-aged. They’ve also recovered what they think is the weapon used in the shooting, a “high-powered bolt action rifle” that was found in a wooded area near the campus. This is a huge development, and it seems like they’re making a lot of progress. Authorities have been able to track the suspect’s movements, and they have “good” video footage of the individual, though they aren’t releasing it to the public right now.

Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason shared some of the details of the shooter’s movements, which were found by ABC. He said the suspect arrived on the Utah Valley University campus at 11:52 AM on Wednesday. From there, the person went through stairwells to the roof of a building, and that’s where they allegedly fired the shot that killed Kirk.

Kirk was hit by a single shot around 12:20 PM and was pronounced dead at a hospital later on. It’s just a tragic situation. After the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled into a nearby neighborhood, and investigators are now going through those areas, talking to witnesses, and checking doorbell cameras for leads.

This was a targeted attack, and officials are pulling out all the stops to find the person responsible. Besides recovering the weapon, investigators have also collected a footwear impression, a palm print, and forearm imprints for analysis. According to Robert Bohls, a special agent in charge at the FBI’s Salt Lake City office, they will “not stand for what happened yesterday” and are “investing everything we have into this”. He also said they would “relentlessly pursue this case until the shooter is in custody”.

The shooting has sparked a lot of conversation, with politicians on both sides of the aisle condemning the violence. President Donald Trump, a close ally of Kirk, spoke out, saying that “violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree”. He also announced that he would posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the killing a “political assassination” and said those responsible would be held accountable. He added that “violence has no place in our public life”.

Everyone has an opinion, but it’s not controversial to say we all want the killer brought to justice. The FBI is still urging anyone with information, photos, or videos to share them with investigators. They’ve set up a digital tip line to make it easy for people to submit information. Hopefully, with all these resources and the public’s help, they’ll be able to catch this individual soon.
