Although the process has apparently left him utterly exhausted and eager for a break, Skyfall director Sam Mendes still remembers that he’s just directed a freakin’ James Bond movie and wouldn’t exactly turn down the chance to direct another one.

Speaking to Time Out, Mendes said:

“I’ve enjoyed it enough to do it again. I think the choice is in the audience’s hands. If people love the movie and they want to see another one from the same people who brought you Skyfall, then that would mean a lot to me. I would feel like, ‘Well, actually there are people who really want to see it.’

“But I feel like I’ve put everything I want to do with a Bond movie into this Bond movie. I would have to feel the same again to do another one. So, it would take a lot of thought to try and make it as special to me as this. I’m knackered, but I’ve loved it.”

Skyfall has received a whole host of positive reviews so far, which will most definitely increase the chances that Mendes might return for a second outing with the famous British spy. Of course, there’s a good chance that the American Beauty director could completely fluff the next film in an attempt to outdo himself and – as always in these situations – the world would subsequently hate him for it.

What do you think? Would it be good to get Mendes on board for another Bond film? Or do you think it would be better to mix things up with a new director?

Skyfall is out in cinemas and IMAX on November 9th, 2012.
