A mother has turned to TikTok to ask whether she is in the right to be creeped out by the behavior of the parents of her daughter’s playmate. After hearing her story the answer was a resounding “yes.”
TikToker, “zabegill85,” shared her story with the hope that others would share their thoughts on the matter, “I need to know if you think I’m overreacting,” she says before delving into her bizarre tale. She claims that it all started when her 5-year-old daughter was invited to a classmate’s birthday party. The party took place at the other girl’s house which just so happened to be on the same street.
Of course, the mother accompanied her daughter to the party but while she was there, she noticed that the parents of her daughter’s classmate had photos containing her daughter, as well as artwork that had been done by her child. In her words she claims the refrigerator was “full” of “pictures, drawings” and other stuff her child had made. Despite the family having five kids of their own it sounds like her daughter was the center of attention.
But it gets weirder. “Zabegill” explains that her daughter and this classmate had spoken about having a playdate on the school bus. That same afternoon, the father of the classmate calls and texts trying to arrange said playdate for the same day. Naturally she declines as her gut is telling her something is off and a mother’s intuition is rarely wrong.
Fast forward to a few hours before “Zabegill” posted the video to TikTok. She claims the father arrived at her door trying to pressure her into sending her daughter to their house to play with their daughter.
That’s pretty weird
It’s strange that the father is so insistent on this playdate, his apparent insistence that the mother send her daughter to his house is also weird. People on TikTok warned her not to do it. One frantic commenter wrote, “DISTANCE YOUR CHILD AND YOURSELF from them. You aren’t overreacting and trust your gut.”
Others were weirded out too, “I would literally move houses,” one person wrote, another questioned the fridge situation asking, “How did they get pictures of your kid?” In a follow-up video, the mother explains that the school website contains photos of the students which seems to be where the pictures were obtained.
A few suggested that the father simply had poor social skills and some recommended organizing a playdate in a public place, or just having the classmate come round to theirs. But then again, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Most suggested staying well away from the classmate’s family.
