After months of speculation, people finally got the news they expected – singer D4vd named a suspect in 15yo’s death

The police are focused on what they can actually prove.

During a criminal investigation, the police always advise persons of interest to be patient because sometimes the case might take more time than your patience would typically demand. Such was the case when the Los Angeles Police Department took its time before officially announcing D4vd as a suspect in Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death.

Online, people have been wondering why D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, still hasn’t been arrested despite all the evidence coming out that seemingly pointed towards him being the main suspect in this long-gestating case. But as people who are familiar with police investigations already know, when it comes to evidence, you never know where it’ll come from, so you can never tell exactly how long it will take the police to solve the case.

But Burke’s case is somewhat different. When Rivas’ body was found in his car — which is already a red flag — the fact that she was underage, and people familiar with their relationship pointed out that their relationship was troubled, led people to already make educated guesses that the police won’t take long before they finally arrest him.

But take their time, the LAPD eventually did. And as the online speculation went on, D4vd was on stage breaking down about the death, and even a song where he somewhat fantasized about harming Rivas soon went viral. So understandably, even the most patient person in the world who was interested in this particular case started losing their patience.

The police are still holding their cards close to their chest because once they present their evidence, it’s going to be a long, drawn-out court battle, and if Diddy’s case was any indicator — these things don’t always go how you expect. In court, it’s only about what you can prove.

Recently, NBC released a report that the wait might finally be over. First and foremost, D4vd is still not yet arrested. In fact, he’s not yet charged with any crime. Reportedly, the LAPD believe that they can prove that Rivas was likely killed in the spring and that D4vd was involved in disposing of the body and actually had help in dismembering a body. This would suggest that they’re also looking at charging an accomplice to the crime.

That means the police have still not named the cause and manner of Rivas’ death. They haven’t even officially named Rivas’ death a homicide. All that the LAPD have shared with certainty is their claim that the singer is not cooperating — but D4vd’s lawyers disagree and claim that they have been cooperative throughout the entire debacle.

This case is very complex. Currently, the LAPD have reportedly stated, “it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body.” But it should be emphasized that the police probably have more information than they’re letting on.

When the time comes for the actual charges to be filed, the whole truth will come out. It seems like the LAPD know that this case will not be settled through swaying public opinion but rather through evidence presented in actual court, so they continue to focus on the latter.
