‘They took all of our oil and we want it back’: Delusional Donald Trump repeatedly insists the oil under Venezuela is, in fact, his

With the U.S. economy cratering so badly that the Trump administration is now refusing to release official figures, desperation is setting in. Donald Trump campaigned on reducing inflation, lowering grocery prices, and making life more affordable for regular Americans.

We’re now a year into his second term and things are worse than ever. Even hardcore MAGA acolytes are finding it hard to defend him – no matter how much you like Trump, you can’t just dismiss those grocery prices.

But what if there were a way to boost the U.S. economy by stealing something? Oh-ho-ho, delightfully devilish, Donald! Yup, Trump is now open that he plans to… just steal Venezuela’s oil reserves.

Speaking to reporters, he didn’t mince his words on this:

“You remember they took all of our energy rights. They took all of our oil from not that long ago and we want it back. But they took it, they illegally took it!”

Trump saying Venezuela “illegally took” U.S. energy rights means he’s referring to the nationalization of the nation’s oil assets in Venezuela in the 1970s and 2000s. This saw when the Venezuelan government expropriated oil fields and operations previously controlled by American companies.

Make Venezuela Great Again

Venezuela’s argument for doing that could have fallen from Trump’s own mouth in different circumstances. They argued that Venezuela’s natural resources and the wealth generated from them should be owned by and benefit Venezuelans rather than foreign corporations. Politicians argued that these oil companies were bleeding Venezuela dry without giving anything back, and that direct governmental intervention was necessary to Make Venezuela Great Again.

Now the tactic appears to be to use the might of America’s military to forcibly install a puppet leader who’ll open Venezuela’s doors to American oil drillers, who’ll then spirit the nation’s national resources away in the hopes of giving the U.S. economy a boost. Sounds like theft? Well, that’s what happens when you elect criminals.

But he really wants a land invasion of Venezuela, look forward to your sons and daughters getting sent home in flag-draped coffins as they give their lives for oil corporations!
