WASHINGTON, DC - DECEMBER 02: U.S. President Donald Trump wears adhesive bandages on the back of his hand during a meeting of his cabinet in the Cabinet Room of the White House on December 02, 2025 in Washington, DC. A bipartisan Congressional investigation has begun about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's role in ordering U.S. military strikes on small boats that have killed scores of people in the waters off Venezuela, which Hegseth said are intended "to stop lethal drugs, destroy narco-boats and kill the narco-terrorists who are poisoning the American people.” (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Trump insists that he is the healthiest president in history, but his drooping face at on-camera event tells a different story

These presidential power naps are getting out of hand.

Donald Trump, the president who’s never had any compunctions about telling mistruths and lies in front of a camera (heck, the man has never met a camera he wouldn’t lie to), recently declared himself the healthiest commander in chief in America’s history.

Now this claim would be hilarious even without the mounting visual evidence to the contrary, but the thing to understand about a man who once looked Jerome Powell dead in the eye and lied about Federal Reserve renovation costs—insisting “$3.1 billion” came from the Fed’s own documents while Powell stood there shaking his head in disbelief—is that he will never let a pesky thing like “reality” get in the way of a good boast.

At a recent Hanukkah reception, Trump trotted out his favorite party trick, which is praising himself through the mouth of someone else. Never above taking a moment to list his supposed accomplishments, this time the 47th POTUS invoked former White House physician Ronny Jackson, claiming that Jackson had declared him healthier than Obama and Joe Biden combined. Even a year into his re-election, it seems the president can’t stop comparing his health to that of Joe Biden’s—a man who’s now enjoying retirement in Delaware while Trump is out here collecting diagnoses like they’re Pokémon cards.

“Trump was by far the healthiest,” the president quoted Jackson as saying, even though the man never really compared Trump’s health with his predecessors. Indeed, this is something that Trump has already gotten into trouble for with the press. When asked in 2018 to rank Trump’s health against previous presidents, Jackson explicitly refused, stating that making such comparisons wasn’t a part of his job.

This whole “healthiest president” business actually came courtesy of Trump’s former personal physician, Harold Bornstein, back in 2015, who later admitted that Trump had dictated the entire glowing health assessment that was given out in Bornstein’s name. Yes, you read that correctly. Trump essentially wrote himself a doctor’s note excusing him from the reality of aging.

But here’s the problem with all the lies. Recent footage at an on-camera event shows Trump once again dozing off with a face that appears to be drooping. The slack expression captured in the video stands in stark contrast to his superhuman health claims, and this isn’t even the first time something like this has happened over the past couple of weeks.

Trump has been caught dozing during cabinet sessions and important meetings. According to Trump biographer Michael Wolff, the situation has devolved into a full-blown crisis management scenario. “You can’t wake him up because the cameras are rolling,” Wolff told The Daily Beast. “Everyone is in a low-level panic all the time about Trump falling asleep.” And when he does eventually wake up, Trump apparently unleashes his fury on the very people trying to keep him from going viral, “essentially blaming the people around him for the fact that he fell asleep.”

The emperor has no clothes, but more pressingly, he appears to also be nursing a severe case of narcolepsy.
