‘He kind of gave the game away’: Doctor says Trump’s dementia denials confirm what everyone already suspects

"That means you’re not assessing dementia. That means you’re monitoring dementia."

It’s hardly news that Donald Trump‘s brain isn’t in tip-top condition, but is he actually suffering from dementia? Suspicions that all’s not well in the presidential cranium have dogged him throughout his political career, and his surreal speeches and strange pronouncements don’t exactly help his case.

For his part, Trump is eager to let us know that he’s not only still mentally sharp but, with his 80th birthday fast approaching, somehow sharper than he’s ever been before. To that end, he’s been boasting to all who’ll listen that he’s astounding doctors by acing the repeated cognitive tests they’re subjecting him to.

Earlier this month, still sore about a report in The New York Times about his declining health, Trump said:

“I go out of my way to do long, thorough, and very boring Medical Examinations at the Great Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, seen and supervised by top doctors, all of whom have given me PERFECT marks – Some have even said they have never seen such Strong Results.”

Now top psychologist Dr. John Gartner has pointed out that Trump may have told us more than he meant to here. After all, it’s perfectly normal for a man of Trump’s age to undergo cognitive assessments, especially given his responsibilities as president. But why so many in such a short period of time?

Speaking to The Daily Beast, he said:

You know, he kind of gave the game away again, as he often does. You could maybe justify giving someone the MoCA (the Montreal Cognitive Assessment) once, just on their age, just as part of a physical. If you’re giving it to him three times, that means you’re not assessing dementia. That means you’re monitoring dementia.”

How far along is he?

This makes sense and may explain why Trump is undergoing so many examinations. After all, Trump simply having dementia doesn’t automatically disqualify him from office, what matters is whether he can be considered mentally competent. Gartner continued:

“If you keep feeling like, no, he’s still got the symptoms, we’ve got to see how bad he’s doing now, we’ve got to check again, see how bad he’s doing now—I think they’re giving him cognitive tests and M.R.I.s every six months to monitor the progress of his dementia, and/or strokes.”

If Trump does have dementia, you can be assured there are some tense discussions taking place behind closed doors. There’s no chance that Trump would simply agree to being removed from office on health grounds, so there’d likely be a power struggle between the Trump faithful and those pragmatically arguing that JD Vance must step up.

You can only imagine how the already conspiracy-poisoned MAGA cult outside the White House would react to what would certainly look like a coup against their icon. But, for now, all we can do is read the ripples in the water. Something is definitely up with Trump, and I have a feeling we’ll find out what that is soon enough.
