‘Big day for stupid people’: Oklahoma University fires trans instructor for failing student’s ‘offensive’ anti-trans essay

It's never been more OUver.

Oklahoma is ranked 48th out of 51 states for the quality of its education system. This means that, along with New Mexico, Alabama, and Arizona, any young person seeking knowledge should get the heck out of there as soon as they can.

Now it’s confirmed that the intellectual rot has thoroughly infected higher education. Earlier this month University of Oklahoma student Samantha Fulnecky turned in a cripplingly embarrassing 650-word psychology essay on gender stereotypes whose core argument was:

“Women naturally want to do womanly things because God created us with those womanly desires in our heart.”

Fulnecky only referenced the Bible, displayed no critical thinking, and demonstrated no engagement with the paper she was told to analyze. Her graduate teaching assistant, Mel Curth, duly provided a lengthy explanation of why she was giving it a zero:

“While you are entitled to your own personal beliefs, there is an appropriate time or place to implement them in your reflections.”

In a sane world, that would be the end of this, as “Idiot turns in bad essay” is hardly the scoop of the year. But we don’t live in a sane world, so somehow Fulnecky became national news. Rather than back their staff, the University of Oklahoma put Curthy on leave and launched an investigation.

“Impermissible evaluative standards”

Now that’s concluded. The result? Well, let’s just say Oklahoma U degrees may not be worth the paper they’re printed on.

They confirm they’re caving to MAGA, siding with the student and dismissing the teaching assistant, arguing that they applied “impermissible evaluative standards”. Message received loud and clear, OU, you care more about feelings than facts.

The response has been, essentially, that the university has obliterated its academic and professional reputation:

It’s now clear University of Oklahoma is best avoided like the plague by academics, professors, and budding students. Firing a professor for correctly marking this garbage essay a zero only underlines their cowardice and refusal to maintain any academic standards. Is there any coming back from this for them? Honestly, probably not.
