Woman who tried to have her husband killed is dead, and what happened between them after she left prison is hard to believe

You can't make this stuff up.

California socialite Tatyana Remley died by suicide on Thursday night outside a bar in San Diego. She was 44 years old. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Remley was waiting for trial on arson charges and had already pleaded guilty to hiring a hitman to kill her husband.

Right before her death, Remley called her estranged husband, Mark Remley, a tech entrepreneur she was divorcing. According to the NY Post, she was upset about her current partner. She even FaceTimed Mark from the bathroom stall at the bar. “She FaceTimed me while in the bathroom stall and told me, ‘I’m with this guy and he’s being a jerk,'” Mark said about their final contact.

Tatyana and Mark met about 15 years ago in a wealthy San Diego neighborhood. They split up in 2023, and things quickly turned criminal after that. In August 2023, Tatyana was charged with trying to hire someone to murder Mark. She also faced charges for carrying a hidden weapon in a vehicle and having a firearm in public. She pleaded guilty to all charges and served one year of a nearly four-year prison sentence.

The relationship continued even after murder-for-hire charges

Most people would think that hiring a hitman to kill your spouse would end the relationship for good. But that’s not what happened here. After Tatyana got out of prison, they reconnected and even got back together romantically for some time.

Like other bizarre true crime cases that have shocked the nation, including a Florida woman who orchestrated a deadly plan involving her ex-husbands, strange incidents continue to make headlines in California, including a Waymo robotaxi’s 45-minute malfunction that drew crowds.

During this reunion, Mark secretly recorded Tatyana. In the recording, she apparently admitted to setting fire to their Del Mar mansion years before. Mark reported this conversation to authorities, and Tatyana was arrested again on arson charges. She was scheduled to go to trial in March when she died.

Tatyana said she was innocent of the arson charges. She also claimed she had nothing to do with the death of her friend Sharal, who was with her when the house fire started. Tatyana accused Mark of trying to frame her for Sharal’s suspected murder.

The case raised questions about whether justice was being served or if darker motives were at play, similar to controversies in the Karen Read case. Despite all the legal problems, the couple’s relationship stayed on-and-off until the day she died. Some reports say they had completely reconciled.

The couple lived a very expensive and public lifestyle funded by Mark’s $30 million real estate fortune. They moved between huge mansions in California and Hawaii with Tatyana’s two children from an earlier marriage.

They started several businesses together, including a horse dancing show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in 2012. They also appeared in the Showtime series Naked SNCTM, which showed the inside of an exclusive sex club.
