Forensic expert spots the chilling panic response and failure that led to Alex Pretti getting shot

A forensic expert has released a video analysis detailing the chilling panic response and critical miscommunication that immediately preceded the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Jan 24.

Expert clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. JP Garrison analyzed the horrifying video footage leading up to the shooting in a 13-minute video, focusing on moments where communication completely broke down among the agents. 

Dr. Garrison zeroes in on what he believes was a pivotal, terrifying interaction between two officers. He noted how one agent, dressed in a grey jacket, pulled a gun from Pretti’s waistband. Right as the gray jacket officer removed the weapon, someone else yelled out, “Gun.” 

“I do believe the man in the jeans is the one that yelled, ‘Gun, gun, gun.’ I’m not positive of that… but I think that as he saw the gun getting removed by the officer in the gray jacket, he just saw a gun and started yelling ‘gun, gun, gun,’ and drew his own,” Dr. Garrison explained. He pointed out that this was the absolute first time anyone heard the word “gun” yelled during the confrontation.

This reaction is crucial because Dr. Garrison believes the officer in jeans was acting solely in a “panic response” after shouting the phrase, preparing to draw his own weapon without fully understanding the context. Dr. Garrison also noted a severe lack of clarity from the officer in the gray jacket who had actually disarmed Pretti. That officer didn’t announce that the threat was contained.

“His reaction to this, the fact that he decided to run from this situation without announcing that he had the gun, that the man had been disarmed, that Alex Pretti was no longer armed, I find strange,” Dr. Garrison said. He called the officer’s choice to turn and run without clarifying the situation “peculiar.” You absolutely wouldn’t turn your back on someone if you still thought they were armed and dangerous. As a result, 37-year-old Pretti was fatally shot in the head and died at the scene.

The footage, combined with Dr. Garrison’s analysis, has cast serious doubt on the official narrative provided by the US government. Secretary of the Department for Homeland Security Kristi Noem previously claimed the unnamed officer had acted in self-defense, but now even Trump himself is refusing to back that story.
