Bar runs out of espresso and can’t make martinis. 1 customer’s creative solution has people calling her the worst

Modern problems need modern solutions.

A customer at a bar in Hoboken, New Jersey, found herself in a tough spot when the place ran out of espresso. She wanted an espresso martini, but there were no espresso shots left. Instead of giving up on her drink, she came up with a creative solution. She used her phone to order a tub of Café Bustelo coffee concentrate through Instacart and had it delivered straight to the bar.

Jaim, who uses the name @shamrockxo online, shared the entire moment on TikTok. The video shows a delivery driver walking into the bar holding the yellow coffee can with an unimpressed look on his face. Jaim, wearing a black lace bodysuit, grabs the container with clear excitement.

The video quickly got over 590,000 views. According to BroBible, the video sparked different reactions from viewers. Some people thought her solution was clever and creative. Others, especially bartenders and service workers, were not happy about it.

Espresso martinis create ongoing challenges for bartenders everywhere

Many bartenders consider the espresso martini one of the most annoying drinks to make. Even though it’s currently the fourth most popular cocktail in the world, service workers often dislike preparing it. The drink was created in London in 1983 when a model asked for something that would “wake her up, then f— her up.”

Making an espresso martini is complicated and time-consuming. The bartender needs to pull a fresh espresso shot, which means they have to stop mixing drinks and work like a barista instead. The hot espresso can also cause problems because it sometimes makes the shaker explode. When that happens, coffee and vodka spray everywhere, creating a mess that’s difficult to clean up.

Many viewers shared their own stories about bringing ingredients to bars and restaurants. Similar to how a pie offering went wrong, customer requests don’t always go as planned. One person said, “one time I went to cvs and bought milk so they could make me a White Russian 🙃.”

Another shared, “One time my pregnant cousin and I went to get these cookie skillets with ice cream at a restaurant and they said they were out of cookie dough. We went and got some and came back with it for them to make because my cousin was craving it so bad 😂.” One user labeled Jaime the “absolute worst kinda customer.”

Some comments focused on the delivery driver’s reaction. One viewer joked, “bouncer looking at you like you’re about to make his night very difficult lol.” Another person defended Jaim’s approach, saying, “Some people complain about problems while others offer solutions 🥤.” The situation was as unexpected as the twisted plot of The Monkey, proving that wild moments can happen anywhere.

For people making drinks at home, there’s an easier option. Cold brew concentrate works well as a replacement for espresso and doesn’t require any special equipment. The simple recipe uses 1 ounce of vodka, 1 ounce of coffee liqueur, 1 ounce of espresso or cold brew, and an optional half-ounce of simple syrup. Shake everything with ice, strain it into a glass, and add three coffee beans on top if you want.

This method saves time and avoids the hassle of using an espresso machine. It might not be exactly like the original 1983 recipe, but it gets the job done without needing emergency deliveries.
