Elon Musk seems to think that the fact he pushed for the release of the Epstein files somehow protects him from the fact he supported and continues to publicly support those who have been named in the files (including himself).
Rather than addressing the documents, the Tesla CEO has instead opted to accuse “far-left propagandists” of denying everything and making accusations against him.
Last week the DOJ released millions of documents relating to the notorious sex-trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein, along with many of his alleged clients including powerful figures like Donald Trump. The files provided all sorts of details including victim statements and emails between the deceased pedophile and other high profile figures.
Elon Musk wanted the files released
It’s no secret that Musk had made mention of the Epstein files numerous times on X. He’d previously called for the release of the files and for prosecutions and at one point (during a low in the relationship between Trump and Musk) even claimed that the president wasn’t releasing the files because his name was all over them.
In the wake of more files being released, Musk has taken to X to express “the extreme pain of being accused of being the opposite of who I am,” but despite that he claims it “was worth it.”
Clearly Musk thinks of himself as some sort of martyr, a man who has made the ultimate sacrifice to bring the truth to light. He’s trying to convince his followers that the accusations being made against him are some sort of smear campaign organized to silence him for speaking out against the “establishment.” But that is far from the truth.
Addressing the elephant in the room
Musk may have fought for the release of the Epstein files but to say he fought the hardest for their release is hardly true, especially considering he had a few secrets of his own. Emails released in the latest batch of documents appear to show Musk contacting Epstein and inquiring about parties on his island, asking the financier which day would be “the wildest party on your island.”
While these email exchanges don’t necessarily prove Musk ever attended, it certainly shows he was a hypocrite. On X, plenty responded to Musk’s self-pitying post where they called him out for supporting Trump, who is named very prominently in the files. “[Y]ou were the largest financial backer of Trump,” pointed out one person, “You knew Trump was on the files which makes you complicit.”
Despite this, Musk hasn’t addressed this rather large elephant. He can try and paint it as the “far-left propagandists” trying to besmirch his name, but the fact is, him and many of the people he actively supports are in those files and that’s not some crazy left-wing conspiracy.
