‘Deeply concerned’: William and Kate finally break silence on Jeffrey Epstein links to royal family

Something has to be done about that pesky ex-prince...

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) did his best to bring the modern era’s most notorious pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, into the royal fold. Andrew loved Epstein’s glitzy life and easy access to young women, and Epstein appeared to have been satisfied with access to places only a prince can get you.

The consequences have left a stain on the royal family’s reputation. Andrew brought Epstein to the Queen’s private residence of Balmoral, invited him to events at Windsor Castle, and the new files indicated that Andrew had ‘great fun’ with Epstein and a young Romanian model at a Buckingham Palace dinner.

After years of denials, lies, and blustering (apparently helped by the late Queen protecting him) Andrew has finally been stripped of his titles, residence, and the last vestiges of his reputation. Were this a few hundred years ago, we suspect he’d be quietly bumped off as an embarrassment who’s more trouble than he’s worth.

Sadly, we cannot now do this to errant princes. Now, in an indication that William and Kate are more than aware that this situation continues to damage the family, they’ve finally released their first official statement. Their spokesman said:

“I can confirm The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”

Their hands may have been forced on this. William is about to embark on a diplomatically significant trip to Saudi Arabia, and to have that undermined by constant questions about Andrew and Epstein would be a disaster.

Will Andrew face justice?

But they can’t just keep brushing this story off. There is building pressure within British politics to compel Andrew to head to the United States to give testimony under oath as to what he knows about Epstein’s disgusting web of sin, the fates of his many victims, and the identities of the perpetrators.

Andrew would likely have to be dragged kicking and screaming (possibly literally) into an American courtroom, and we don’t expect his testimony to be particularly honest. But, from the British perspective, maybe if he faced criminal charges across the pond he can get tossed into an American supermax and they can just forget about him.

Sadly that’s likely just a fantasy. Like others of his privileged ilk, the most consequences Andrew will probably face are the humiliation of having to be just another commoner. Yes, you’re reading that right. Andrew’s ‘punishment’ is to live as we do. Here’s hoping karma is real and that Andrew feels the sharp end of it soon enough.
