Marjorie Taylor Greene has declared that everything happening in Washington for the rest of the year will be “purely performative,” designed solely to “gaslight you to vote in the midterms.” She says she and her colleagues discussed this back in January 2025, where they realized they only had about six to nine months to get serious work done. After that, she says, the “courage would fade and campaign mode would kick in,” shutting down any real legislative progress.
According to The Hill, Greene is not impressed with what has been accomplished so far. She says the main achievement was just an extension of existing tax law with a few small additions. Beyond that, she argues there has been “no accountability” on major issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic, what she calls “4 years of lawfare,” the 2020 election, and the files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
She also criticized the Republican Party for not making health insurance affordable, saying, “Republicans have done NOTHING to make health insurance affordable and hide from the issue like the pedophiles in the Epstein files.” She believes any actions taken by GOP legislators in the coming months will simply be to “scare you into voting for Republicans again in the midterms,” rather than fixing real problems.
Both parties are failing Americans, and Greene is not staying quiet about it
Greene also went after Democrats, saying they are “no better.” She says that even after a tough 2024, Democrats have not made serious changes to their platform. She criticizes them for continuing to prioritize “illegals and trans first,” while only suddenly caring about the Epstein files starting in 2025. Greene has previously spoken out about the Epstein issue, including claiming Trump ordered her to abandon Epstein victims to protect his friends.
She summed up her view of both parties by calling it “all America LAST from both sides of the never ending Political Industrial Complex,” making it clear she sees both sides as failing ordinary Americans. Greene also mentioned rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran, as the Trump administration is actively working to negotiate a new nuclear agreement with Tehran, adding another layer of concern to her overall message.
This broader frustration with the direction of the party ties into her calling out Trump over his repeated excuses, which she has addressed on multiple occasions. These comments come as both major parties are ramping up preparations for the midterm elections this November.
Some states, including Texas, North Carolina, and Arkansas, have already begun early voting for primary races. Greene appears to be sending a direct warning to voters ahead of the midterms, urging them not to be swayed by what she sees as political theater from both sides of the aisle.
