Former Mayor’s desperate SA defense reaches disgusting territory as she tries to pin the blame on a teenager

Her lawyers are arguing that she is an excellent mother.

Misty Roberts, the former mayor of DeRidder, a small Louisiana town, is rather unapologetic about her recent conviction. After being found guilty of assaulting a teenager, Roberts is reportedly “very, very disappointed” with the verdict and is already planning to appeal. Her lawyer, Todd Clemons, made it clear that Roberts maintains her innocence.

Per TMZ, Clemons stated that while Roberts respects the jury’s decision, she firmly believes she did nothing wrong. Looking ahead to her April sentencing, her legal team is prepared to make a strong case to the judge, hoping to convince them that Roberts shouldn’t be sent to prison. Clemons emphasized that his client was an excellent mayor and is an excellent mother, suggesting these points will be central to their argument against incarceration.

However, according to the NY Post, a chilling testimony from the victim painted a different picture during the trial. The 16-year-old boy, who was a friend of Roberts’ son, described a disturbing scene where Roberts allegedly tried to deflect blame for her actions by pitting the two boys against each other. According to the victim, Roberts got into a heated argument with her son after he confronted her about her behavior at his booze-filled birthday party in 2024.

She was clearly an excellent mother at some point. Her kids turned her in

“Go fight your friend. He’s the one who did it,” Roberts reportedly screamed at her son, according to the victim’s testimony. The victim told the jury that Roberts was clearly “trying to get him to fight me” and that “she was trying to get the blame off of herself.” He recounted sitting on the couch, “kind of shell-shocked” as Roberts continued to shout at her son.

The incident unfolded at a pool party Roberts hosted for her son. The then-mayor, who was 43 at the time and reportedly wearing an orange bikini, openly flirted with the teenager and even posed for “creepy photos” with him. The trial heard that she then lured the boy to another room in the house, where she stripped and proceeded to assault him.

The victim described a traumatic experience, testifying, “While it was happening, I couldn’t feel my body.” He added, “After we had sex, I kinda was realizing what was happening.”

Roberts was found guilty on two felony charges earlier this week. She now faces a potential sentence of up to 17 years in prison when she is sentenced on April 17. Additionally, the conviction means that Roberts will have to register as a sex offender, a significant consequence following her role as a public official. Her legal team has a tough battle ahead as they try to keep her out of prison.

This is just one in many stories of people in power abusing those weaker than them, with an ICE background checker being arrested in a sting. Roberts herself is a far cry from a woman snapped when she learned that her husband was sexually abusing her charges.
