Hugh Jackman’s dream of second marriage hits a giant wall after his controversial romance successfully sidelined ex-wife’s allegation

Hugh Jackman might have to put his wedding on hold.

Hugh Jackman may have thought the worst was behind him and it would all be plain sailing after he weathered the storm of cheating allegations made by his ex-wife. However, the Hollywood superstar and his current partner, Sutton Foster, aren’t out of the woods yet, as their plans for marriage have hit an unexpected roadblock.

It seems Jackman, 57, hasn’t had the best start to 2026, he’s fallen out of public favor and he’s still dealing with the fallout from his prior marriage to Deborra-Lee Furness. The couple had been married for 27 years before they made the shocking announcement that they would be parting ways back in 2023. In a statement from last year, Furness mentioned “betrayal” leading many to believe that infidelity on Jackman’s part may have been the cause of their divorce. However, neither side has outright confirmed the rumors.

Regardless, Jackman was quick to move on with his new girlfriend Foster, 50, announcing their engagement in January of this year. But just two months after their joyous announcement the plans were put on hold.

Hugh Jackman might not be getting married just yet

Turns out not everyone is completely on board with Jackman and Foster’s wedding as per the Daily Mail. The X-Men star shared two adopted children with ex-wife Furness, Oscar, 25, and Ava, 20. However, neither of his children reportedly approve of his planned marriage to Foster with both remaining “steadfastly loyal” to Furness and struggling to be happy for their father.

While there seems to be a rift between Jackman and his children he still wants them on board with the wedding. An unnamed source claims that the actor is trying to be “respectful” and “sensitive” of his children’s feelings both towards him and their mother.

“Hugh really wants his kids at the wedding.” the source states. Both Jackman and Foster want their loved ones to be there on their special day but right now that just doesn’t look like a realistic possibility. Last month reports indicated that a wedding was imminent but now things have slowed down, the couple are likely thinking of how to approach such a delicate situation.

Currently none of the parties involved, Jackman, Furness, and Sutton have commented publicly on the engagement but behind closed doors you have to imagine the realistic conversations they are having as they try to work through the aftermath of such a messy divorce.

While Hugh seems happy and confident with his current relationship, (even refusing to sign a prenup) his family is still important to him and clearly them being there on the day is a dealbreaker. In other words the wedding is hanging in suspension until his children come around, (if they ever do).
