‘I do not hate children’: Chappelle Roan tries to end the backlash after a shocking incident involving Jude Law’s daughter

Chappell Roan has officially responded to the accusations from soccer player Jorginho, apologizing to his family after his stepdaughter was reportedly left in tears by a security guard at a hotel in Brazil. According to Newsweek, the pop star took to Instagram to share her side of the story, making it clear she was not involved in the incident.

Jorginho had previously alleged that a security guard with Roan’s team confronted his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada Law, whose mother is Catherine Harding and father is Jude Law. According to Jorginho, the child, who had recognized Roan and just wanted to double-check it was her, walked past Roan at breakfast, smiled, and then returned to her table without approaching or speaking to the singer. 

He claimed that a security guard then aggressively accused Ada of “harassing” and “disrespecting” Roan, threatening to report the family to the hotel. This aggressive interaction left the young girl “in tears” and “extremely shaken.” Jorginho concluded his posts by tagging Roan and writing, “WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.”

Roan responded with a story from her hotel room. “I’m just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security,” she said. She emphasized that she didn’t even see the woman and child.

 “I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not,” Roan stated firmly. “They did not come up to me. They weren’t doing anything. It’s just unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions, when they have no reason to believe because there’s no action even taken.”

The incident quickly sparked a wave of online criticism and mockery directed at Roan. Many jokes and memes surfaced, painting her as someone who dislikes her fans or even children. 

Addressing the online backlash directly, Roan said, “I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. Like, that is crazy. I am sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”

This isn’t the first time Roan has been in the spotlight over boundaries. She’s been pretty vocal about her need for privacy and recently accused photographers of “disrespecting” and “harassing” her at a Paris Fashion Week event. In the face of that, some celebrities, like Doja Cat, spoke out in support of her right to speak her mind, sharing why it was important.

Roan has also been in the news for being unapologetically female-first. She recently proved that by firing her talent agency after its boss was discovered to have ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
