Producers Want Christopher Nolan For Bond 24

Given that, hey, Sam Mendes was directly inspired by The Dark Knight when he went ahead and made Skyfall, Christopher Nolan seems like a serious contender to helm James Bond's next outing. Given that, hey, Sam Mendes was directly inspired by The Dark Knight when he went ahead and made Skyfall, Christopher Nolan seems like a serious contender to helm James Bond’s next outing. Fans have been suggesting the idea for a good while now, anyway, and even Nolan has mentioned before that he’s a big Bond fan and would be interested in taking on a 007 movie.

That’s all been somewhat hyperbolic, though, given that these things are often just too good to be true. There’s hope to this rumor, however, given a recent comment from Bond associate producer Gregg Wilson (who we’ve never heard of either):

“We would of course be interested to have a discussion with him. We would like to do the same type of movie. It would be a dream to be with Nolan. But we always have an open mind when it comes to directors.”

Dream? Dream? Is Wilson hinting at Nolan’s brilliant dream-based epic Inception there? Probably not, no. But it’s a great compliment, no less.

And as far as we’re concerned, Christopher Nolan could probably make this project if he really, really wanted to. All he’d have to do is go into the office, throw a few of his DVDs at Barbara Broccoli, and say “Nolan. Christopher Nolan” in his best mock-Bond voice.

Although, we wouldn’t recommend that sort of behaviour from such an esteemed director.

There was also some talk last week that Sam Mendes might return to the series once again, but the man has talked about just how exhausted he is (and that he threw everything he had into this movie), suggesting such a thing is rather unlikely.

What do you think? Is Nolan a good contender for next Bond director? Are you afraid Nolan would set the next movie in Bond’s dreams or, uh, in some twisted memory loss-based narrative?

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
