California woman gets off work two hours after shift was supposed to end, unaware that a 4yo girl’s life depended on it

A late finish and a faulty car alarm saved a young girl's life.

A woman in California who stayed behind two hours after her shift had ended at work one evening found herself in just the right place at just the right time to save a lost child. She shared the heroic moment in a video TikTok which has since gone viral.

The dramatic CCTV footage which, at the time of writing, has already received nearly 5 million likes and 30 million views on TikTok, was posted by TikToker Mazaqueen. It shows her leaving work at around 3:30 in the early hours of Sunday morning. As she unlocks her car and gets inside a small child can be seen running towards the vehicle from the top right of the screen. She walks up to the door and, after what looks like a brief conversation, the woman lets her in.

The woman explains that her car fob was broken meaning the car alarm went off which was likely what drew the child’s attention to her. After she lets the child into her car she then presumably calls the police as they can be seen arriving roughly 15 minutes later after which they have a conversation with the little girl.

What happened next?

Thankfully Mazaqueen knew exactly how to handle the situation as she took the girl into the car and turned up the heating to keep her warm. She comforted the young girl telling her, “My name’s Chelsea,” and, “You’re gonna be OK.” She also put a bandaid on the girl’s foot after she told her that she’d hurt it walking on the sidewalk.

Chelsea did her best to ask her questions to try and find out how long she’d been outside for. The young child explained “I was in my cousin’s house, but I don’t really like it in my cousin’s house cause I run away.” Apparently she was wandering the streets looking for her mother.

People on TikTok commended Chelsea’ heroic actions and her handling of the situation, “thank God she found that woman,” wrote one commenter. Others echoed the sentiment, it seems Chelsea really did save that young girl’s life that night. Who knows what could have happened to the child had she not been there at that exact moment in time.

Chelsea’s most recent post shows the police speaking to the young girl, trying to find out as much as they can about her. An ambulance also shows up to check over her. Viewers have asked for any updates Chelsea may receive from the authorities about the little girl in the future as many want to know that she made it back to her parents or guardian alright.
