‘This is beyond disgusting’: Texas man allegedly called ICE on mechanic to avoid having to pay him for the work he did on his car

It's alleged that Don Brunson weaponized ICE to avoid paying for honest work.

A man in Dallas, Texas, has been branded a “scumbag,” “moron,” and other much ruder names after he was accused of calling ICE on a local mechanic in order to avoid paying him. Don Brunson allegedly had work done on his vehicle by a Hispanic mechanic, but rather than pay for the work, he called ICE to take the man away.

The story and accompanying footage comes from Cesia Santay, the daughter of the mechanic, and has been shared on Facebook by Hispanos En Los Esclavos Unidos and X by others. The video footage shows Don Brunson as well as what appears to be Santay’s father being bundled into a vehicle by ICE.

It is also alleged the ICE agents sprayed pepper spray into Santay’s father’s face after he was cuffed and lying on the ground. One point in the video seems to show that happening as the man is dragged on the ground by one agent while it looks like another points and sprays something at him. As usual, ICE agents are behaving like bullies and brutes, sadly it’s nothing new.

What did Don Brunson allegedly do?

On Facebook, an explanation of what exactly happened explained that ICE arrived at Santay’s house after Brunson allegedly called them around 9:10 AM. Santay has claimed that this was done in order to avoid paying for the work her father had done on his car. She then gave details on Brunson’s business address in Dallas.

The response online has been swift with many shaming Brunson for his actions. Others went further, calling Brunson all the names under the sun. “This is beyond disgusting.” one angry individual wrote on X, it seems everybody agrees that his alleged weaponization of ICE to avoid paying a man for honest work was nothing short of cowardly. “I’m surprised this hasn’t happened more often.” wrote another person, “We all know how conniving and evil white dudes are.”

Others pointed to the poor ratings Brunson’s business was getting while others recommended leaving bad reviews themselves. Whatever the case, it seems Brunson has made a lot of enemies by simply trying to save himself a few bucks.

As for Cesia Santay, she currently has no idea where her father has been taken. ICE aren’t exactly known for being forthcoming with information regarding people they have taken into custody. There’s a chance she may never see her father again and it all stems from an alleged act committed by a man who wanted to avoid paying him the money he was owed.
