‘Taking the minimum wage job a bit too far’: Woman woken up by co-workers at her door demanding to know why she’s not at work

Her colleagues knocked on her door for seven minutes straight.

Sometimes co-workers can be difficult to get along with, but imagine how much more annoying life would be if your work colleagues rocked up at your front door on your day off to demand you come in for a shift. Well that’s exactly what one woman on TikTok had to deal with when she didn’t show up to work, thankfully she gave the pushy co-workers a stern talking to.

TikToker Marielle was rudely awoken on her day off by two of her colleagues showing up to her front door. She explains that the pair had been knocking on the door for seven minutes before she finally got up to confront them. As you’d expect she’s pretty angry, especially because she’s not even supposed to be at work.

As soon as Marielle opens the door one of her colleagues tells her, “Dude, you’re working right now,” to which she responds, “no I’m not.” She then explains to them that she was told not to come in but the men don’t quite seem to get it, insisting she should be in. We all know that managers and people at the top aren’t always the brightest or most qualified, so it’s certainly possible they made and error but either way, it shouldn’t be up to Marielle or her co-workers to fix it.

There is so much wrong with this

Aside from the obvious miscommunication there is a lot more wrong with this picture and the commenters on TikTok were outraged on Marielle’s behalf. “Whether you had work or not, no one should be showing up to your door like that. That’s scary!” That’s the bigger issue here. Marielle’s boss should not be giving out her address and sending co-workers to her front door whether she should have been in or not.

Marielle also chastised her co-workers for taking their minimum wage job too seriously, after all, it’s her shift, not theirs, it’s not exactly their problem if she shows up for her shift or not. At the end of the day it’s not serious enough to send someone over to her home to drag her into work.

Other commenters on TikTok suggested taking things further, “If your boss gave your co-workers your address that’s a huge lawsuit.” explained one person, “Sending them there is another one.” According to Edwardssolicitors.com it isn’t necessarily illegal for an employer to come to an employee’s home, however as it is their place of residence they can expect a degree of privacy. Therefore it is important that such a home visit is arranged prior to arrival and with the employee’s permission.

In an update video she revealed that she had actually been fired, which may give her even more of a case against her employer. When asked if she would sue however, she revealed that she had another job which was much better than the other one anyway.

Seeing as Marielle’s co-workers did none of these things she has every right to be angry. Thankfully she wasn’t about to take any bull from her boss or the underlings they sent her way.
