There is panic on the streets of a town in Virginia after a man dressed in as the iconic Pink Panther cartoon character allegedly attempted to kidnap a handful of school children in broad daylight. Police in Fredericksburg are on the hunt for the unknown individual who is reportedly still on the loose.
Police received a call at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday May 14th regarding a suspect dressed in the Pink Panther costume and cowboy boots following school kids along the Lafayette Boulevard corridor as per WTOP News. Four children reportedly got off of their school bus to find the costume-wearing creep waiting outside.
As soon as the school bus pulled away the suspect immediately ran at the children. Whoever this person is, it seemed like they were deliberately targeting kids, scaring and chasing them and at one point allegedly grabbing one little girl. Luckily the girl’s sister was able to pull her away in time.
One child was able to snap a photo of the person and it’s admittedly quite a creepy sight, even in broad daylight. Footage of the Pink Panther walking along a street during the day has also been shared.
What does the Pink Panther lunatic want?
So what exactly was the suspect trying to do? That is no doubt the question on many concerned parent’s minds in Fredericksburg. Was this an attempted kidnapping? Or was the individual simply out to scare a few school kids? Nobody knows for sure but the police are certainly keeping an eye out for this anonymous individual.
One of the children claimed to have seen the face of the person underneath through a tear that was in the costume. They described what they believed to be a man with facial hair and a tan complexion. So far there have not been any reports of injuries although that doesn’t mean the Pink Panther man isn’t a risk to local children.
As a result of the incident police have reportedly increased patrols in the area in order to better keep an eye out for the suspect.
Whoever the individual is, they seem like they could pose a risk to local children and police are eager to find the suspect before they strike again. Anyone who has seen the suspect has been urged to contact the Fredericksburg police. If they are wearing their Pink Panther costume they shouldn’t be too hard to spot.” Of course, if they don’t wear the costume again it could prove tricky finding the suspect considering they were completely covered from head to toe.
