Florida man makes early morning Taco Bell run, except he did so pants down, ‘chimichanga out’, while carrying a fish

The fish is now named “Baja blast.”

Flagler County, Florida, just witnessed a unique police encounter. A 28-year-old man, identified as Brandon Irizarry, found himself in serious trouble with the law early Thursday morning after deputies were called to a local Taco Bell on State Road 100. According to WFTV, the situation began just before 1:00 AM when employees reported a man hanging around a side door with his “chimichanga out.”

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Irizarry outside the restaurant. Per the NY Post, he was wearing three pairs of pants, all of which were pulled down around his knees. He appeared so preoccupied with his activity that he didn’t even notice the officers pulling up. The sheriff’s office noted that when he did see the officers, he frantically tried to cover himself, though he opted to pull his hoodie down rather than simply pulling his pants back up.

While deputies were checking his belongings during the arrest, they discovered a live pet fish swimming in a plastic container inside his backpack. The fish, a betta, was quickly handed over to the Flagler County Humane Society to ensure it was properly cared for. The staff there later reported that the fish was “doing great” in its new environment. In a nod to the location where it was found, the deputies even nicknamed the pet “Baja Blast.”

It is a strange set of circumstances, and it triggered a response to match the weird

Fox News reported that the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office had a bit of fun with the situation while remaining professional in their duties. They even issued a public reminder to the community, stating that a late-night Taco Bell run should end “with a receipt, maybe some regret, but not a booking number.”

Sheriff Rick Staly didn’t hold back when commenting on the arrest, providing a statement that really drives the point home. “In Flagler County, if you can’t keep your business inside your pants, you’ll find yourself at the Green Roof Inn, swimming with different company than your fish,” Staly said.

As for the legal consequences of his actions, Irizarry was arrested on a charge of unlawful exposure of sexual organs. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office made it clear that they had plenty of questions about the incident, even if they didn’t have all the answers. They noted that what they did have was a fish in need of better company.

It’s worth noting that the sheriff’s office shared their account of the event on Facebook, describing it as a “hilarious accounting of the incident.” They were quite clear about the man’s state when they arrived, reiterating that he was “so focused on the task at hand” that he was completely oblivious to the law enforcement presence.

The fact that he had multiple pairs of pants pulled down adds another layer of confusion to the entire ordeal. While we might never know exactly what was going through his mind, the outcome is clear. At least his pet fish is in a safer place.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of stories out there of indecent exposure. Last year, a Georgia man was arrested for greeting all of his DoorDash deliveries in the nude. More recently, a Secret Service agent decided to not only stalk women and leave them “in fear of our lives,” but he also then proceeded to vigorously take care of himself outside their door
