Top Gear and Clarkson’s Farm host Jeremy Clarkson (66) has revealed he’s been diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer.
Clarkson broke the news on the final episodes of Clarkson’s Farm season 5, which were released on the streaming platform today. As reported by Deadline, during a scene with Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper, he breaks the news: “I’ve got cancer”.
Cooper reacts with disbelief: “No, you haven’t. Where?” Clarkson responds: “Where it is is of no concern of anybody. I’ve known since May.” Clarkson then explains that this is why he “disappeared off the other week”, explains that his cancer is “aggressive”, but notes that it is still “really early”.
He also underlines that his treatment looks set to disrupt his farming operation: “I was praying we could get the harvest done, and then I could go and get some treatment, but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle”.
There’s also a pessimistic note. Clarkson explains that “some of the treatment” has “gone awry”. He concludes: “What I wanted to say was if this is all successful, I’ll see you for Season 6, and if it isn’t, I won’t”, ending with a message to “Take care, everyone”.
“A difficult watch”
Clarkson hinted that these episodes might be a rough watch in an Instagram post before the episodes aired, preparing viewers for a “somber” finale. While sighing, he bills the episodes as a “difficult watch… they’re really, really difficult”.

Clarkson has been a television presenter for almost four decades, with his work on the BBC’s Top Gear spanning 1988 to 2015. Following that, he and his Top Gear co-presenters jumped ship to Amazon Prime Video for The Grand Tour, then followed that up with the hit reality show Clarkson’s Farm, in which he tries to run a working farm as a business.
He’s achieved fame on both sides of the Atlantic (and throughout the rest of the world) through his work on Top Gear. Here’s hoping treatment is effective and he makes a speedy recovery.
